New Nike NFL Uniforms

This is not an accident, and it never has been. Teams like the Browns, Bills and Chiefs don’t schedule these things bi-annually or so because they have rotten luck or run into a couple of bad breaks. The Bills last made the playoffs in the last century, in 1999, five full-time coaches and one interim ago; the Browns last made it in 2002, four full-time coaches and one interim ago.  Oh, yeah, smart guy, what about the Chiefs two years ago, winning the AFC West with Todd Haley? Yes, they did. Haley is long gone. Two seasons earlier, in 2008, they’d gone 2-14 and they’d decided they’d had enough of Herm Edwards. Four seasons later, they’ve gone 2-14 again.New Nike NFL Uniforms

To repeat: They’ll be on their third coach since that ’08 season–and their third one since that division title season.  That’s three teams that chronically choose unwisely. That’s also three teams that will have a much harder time finding their first choice as a head coach than the Bears and Eagles will. Finally, those are three coaches–Shurmur, Crennel and Gailey–who will, for various reasons, have a harder time finding their next NFL jobs, head coaching or otherwise, than Reid or Lovie Smith will.  Shurmur should be back in charge of a team relatively soon. Few teams are likely to hold his Browns experience against him. He gets something of a waiver. It was the Browns, after all. He was a hot prospect two years ago as a coordinator. The team changed owners and top football men (bye-bye, Mike Holmgren), and the general manager, Tom Heckert, hit the bricks with him Monday.
